Outpatient treatment that we offer includes individual therapy, play therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy.

Outpatient Psychiatric Services
Outpatient psychiatric services are provided in a practitioner’s office, mental health clinic,
individual’s home, or nursing facility.
All psychiatric services, including medication management, shall be medically prescribed treatment. Outpatient psychiatric services shall be considered appropriate when an individual meets all of the following criteria:
- Requires treatment to provide behavioral or emotional gains or to restore cognitive functional levels that have been impaired.
- Exhibits deficits in peer relations, dealing with authority; is hyperactive; has poor impulse control; is clinically depressed or demonstrates other dysfunctional clinical symptoms harming attention and concentration, ability to learn, or ability to participate in employment, educational, or social activities.
- Is at risk for developing or requires treatment for poor coping strategies.
- Presents a decrease in individual adaptive and coping mechanisms or demonstrates an extreme increase in personal suffering.
Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Services 2.1
Outpatient psychiatric services are provided in a practitioner’s office, mental health clinic,
individual’s home, or nursing facility.
All psychiatric services, including medication management, shall be medically prescribed treatment. Outpatient psychiatric services shall be considered appropriate when an individual meets all of the following criteria:

Crisis Intervention/Stabilization Services
Crisis stabilization services involve direct interventions that provide temporary, intensive services and supports that avert emergency, psychiatric hospitalization, or institutional placement of individuals who are experiencing serious psychiatric or behavioral problems that jeopardize
their current community living situation.
Crisis stabilization services shall include, as
appropriate, neuropsychological, psychiatric, psychological, and other functional assessments and stabilization techniques, medication management, and monitoring, behavior assessment and support, and intensive care coordination with other agencies and providers.
This service is designed to stabilize the individual and strengthen the current living situation so that the individual remains in the community during and beyond the crisis period.
Medical Addiction Treatment Services/Substance Use OPT Services
Substance use outpatient services are structured based on your need.
RISE will conduct an assessment to determine your need. Our team of physicians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses will assist you with your recovery needs.
RISE can handle court-appointed substance use as well as employment or personal related abuse. We also offer youth centered substance use classes.
RISE offers youth centered substance use program to address the youth’s specific needs directly. RISE recognizes the different triggers and reasons for substance use and created a youth centered treatment plan to deal with the environmental and social aspects
Mental Health Skill BuildingEmployer Services
A counselor comes to the adult’s home to teach basic life skills. Tailored to the individual, this set of skills builds confidence, which helps mentally stabilized adults in transitioning back into the community after hospitalization. Basic knowledge of managing money.

VASAP Services
RVA Addiction Treatment Center, PLLC is located onsite to provide the following services:
a. Individual Therapy
b. Group Therapy
c. Family Therapy
d. Intensive Education– This is a 24 to 40-hour program for probationers which focuses on substance abuse and its relationship to highway safety, health, and addiction. This program is based on the belief that people have the power to change their behavior if they have the motivation and tools to do so.
e. Young Offender Program- This program is available for younger individuals who have committed a non-driving alcohol-related offense such as underage possession of cannabis or alcohol. Participation in the program may allow for either a reduced charge or the dismissal of the original charge.
f. First Time Drug Offender– This is a 12-week program for first-time drug offenders. The program consists of a combination of education and monitoring (to include drug testing).
g. Treatment Education– The primary goals of this 4 week, 8-hour program are to help participants explore their high-risk, substance-related behavior and to reduce the number of alcohol and/or other drug-related offenses. This program supplements intervention provided by licensed treatment professionals when offenders are assessed as needing treatment.

Intensive outpatient services are structured programs of skilled treatment services for adults, children, and adolescents delivering a minimum of 3 service hours per service day to achieve 9 to 19 hours of services per week for adults and 6 to 19 hours of services per week for children and adolescents.
Services can also be provided on the weekend and those hours are part of the weekly hours if they do not exceed the maximum hours.
This service is provided to individuals who do not require the intensive level of care of inpatient, residential, or partial hospitalization services but require more intensive services than outpatient services.
Intensive outpatient service providers shall meet the ASAM Level service components.
The following service components shall be assessed and monitored weekly and shall be provided in accordance with the ASAM Criteria and based on an individual’s treatment needs identified in the multidimensional assessment:
Psychiatric and other individualized treatment planning.
- Individual
- family
- group psychotherapy.
- Medication management and psychoeducational activities.
- Requests for a psychiatric or a medical consultation shall be available within 24 hours of the requested consult by telephone and preferably within 72 hours of the requested consult in person or via telemedicine. Referrals to external resources are allowed in this setting.
- Psychopharmacological consultation.
- Addiction medication management provided on-site or through referral.
- 24-hour emergency services available.
- Occupational and recreational therapies, motivational interviewing, enhancement, and engagement strategies to inspire a motivation to change behaviors.
- Medical, psychological, psychiatric, laboratory, and toxicology services, which are available through consultation or referral.
- Withdrawal management services may be provided as necessary by qualified staff either on-site or through referral. Providers should refer to the ASAM Criteria text for Intoxication/Withdrawal Management guidelines.
